The Olympus E-PL2 Digital SLR Camera is rated one of 2012′s best entry-level cameras. It boasts the same size sensor as its predecessors; however, the body is much smaller, making it easier to carry and handle. Enhanced Live Guide controls allow you to see the way a picture will look before you actually press the shutter button. Live view has enabled Olympus to omit the reflex mirror and optical viewfinder arrangement of a traditional SLR and produce significantly smaller cameras and lenses. Panasonic has created cameras with this same lens set-up, and Canon and Nikon are expected to begin production soon. Olympus has more quality lenses and accessories available for their cameras than any other manufacturer. You’ll have a great time sifting through all of the accessories available for this camera!

With Olympus’s Live Guide, you also have specific controls in plain English, such as “make brighter” or “make darker,” that you can see on the LCD as you’re moving the slider.
Olympus has developed many accessories that work with the E-PL2, including three conversion lenses: fish-eye, Wide Angle, and macro. When using the macro accessory lens, you should get the MAL-1 macro arm light. It’s a pair of LED lights for close-up work.
There is now a new device, released by Olympus for photo sharing called the PENPal. The device plugs into the accessory port and is Bluetooth-enabled. This will allow you to send photos from the camera to variety of devices. The device automatically resizes images and prepares them for uploading to your chosen social networking site or compatible device.
The E-PL2 boasts an HDMI port that enables direct connection to an HDTV or other HDMI-compatible device. You can view images and movies on any connected device. You can run a slideshow using the soundtracks included in the E-PL2, to accompany the pictures. The presentation can be made to look incredible and professional. You will have to purchase a mini HDMI cable, as this is not included.
the E-PL2 offers ESP light metering which uses information from 324 zones, other lighting includes center weighted, spot, highlight and shadow metering. Images may be captured as raw or JPEG files, or both. There are also 22 scene modes and six art filters: Pop Art, Soft Focus, Grainy Film, Pin Hole, Diorama and Dramatic Tone.
The most popular kit lens is the Micro Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 II MSC. It is a little longer than the original Micro Zuiko Digital 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 when collapsed; however, this new lens is a little lighter and shorter when fully extended. The new optic lens is compatible for Movies and Stills making the auto focusing quieter and faster.
The Olympus E-PL2 Digital SLR Camera is perfect for beginner and intermediate photographers, and will give you images that rival the much more expensive cameras. The scene modes and art filters make it tons of fun to create expressive, personalized, images and movies.
