How do I make an infrared light source?
How would you construct something like this with infrared LED bulbs? What kind of parts and supplies would I need? Thanks
IR LED’s are easy to work with. It’s all low voltage and current. I’m assuming you know some electrical basics. The only thing you have to be careful about is not running too much current into the LED’s. A common mistake is to just stick a battery to an LED. NG. You need a resistor to keep the current at or below around 20 milliamps. You can scavenge a IR LED from an old remote control. A resistor of a few hundred ohms should be about right.
If you need serious IR light output, you can get glass IR pass filters and use a mains powered incandescent light bulb as a source.
